Winkler Police have three people in custody after stopping a stolen vehicle on Friday, September 7, 2018.
Officers had been conducting a drug trafficking investigation when they noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at a home on Park Street. Police ran the plates and found out the vehicle had been stolen from Winnipeg.
Several hours later, as officers watched the home, two men came out and got into the stolen truck. Officers with help from Morden and Altona Police Services stopped the vehicle and took both men into custody. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine and a replica handgun.
Police have charged a 26-year-old man from Winnipeg with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of Methamphetamine, Drive while Disqualified, and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Court Order.
A 34-year-old Winkler man is facing charges for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Later Friday night police raided the home on Park Street where they had spotted the stolen vehicle earlier in the day.
Two adult males were located inside the home and were taken into custody. A 53-year-old man is facing charges the other man was released.
A search of the residence found a small quantity of methamphetamine and a number of bicycle parts believed to have been stolen.
The investigation is continuing.
