Police investigating William Avenue homicide say death not criminal in nature

What Winnipeg police initially thought to have been a homicide of an adult female on Thursday evening, November 30, 2017, has turned out to be a death that is not criminal in nature.

Police were alerted to a situation after receiving a report of an injured person in a home in the 400 block of William Avenue around 6:45 pm.

When officers arrived they found a male with serious injuries. Tactical Support Unit members administered first aid. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police then found a second victim also suffering serious injuries. She was taken to hospital in unstable condition and died a short time later.

Homicide investigators took over the case but were able to deduce a crime had not been committed causing the woman’s death after an autopsy was performed.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident
