Fires continue to rage across parts of Manitoba. So far this year 191 fires have started, well above the 20 year average of 116.
The 25,000-hectare blaze between Little Grand Rapids and Pauingassi First Nation is still out of control and residents from both communities are still under evacuation orders. Fire crews have set up sprinklers to protect buildings in the communities.
Fire officials say that light rain in the area has helped but not enough to bring the fires under control.
The large fire near Ashern is now under control but fire crews are still having to put out spot fires as they ignite.
Sapotaweyak Cree Nation is also still evacuated, however, fires in that area are getting help from mother nature in the form of rain and high humidity.
