WINNIPEG WEATHER

WEATHER | WINTER STORM HITS HARD, MORE SNOW ON WAY

With milder than usual temperatures in November it was just a matter of time before old man winter blew in.

Blow in he did!

Much of southern Manitoba experienced snow and high winds beginning Monday. By Tuesday morning delays, cancellations and cleanup was the norm but it’s not over yet, not by a long shot.

Winnipeg will see up to 25 cm by the end of the day on Wednesday while outside the city as much as 30 cm can be expected.

Winds are expected to pickup with gusts as high as 70 km. Snow and blowing snow will drop visibility to near zero as the storm progresses. Conditions are expected to improve by Wednesday evening however bitter cold is expected as Arctic air moves in with temperatures dropping to -20c before the end of the week and wind chills around -35c.

Snow clearing operations began in Winnipeg in the early morning hours as crews began sanding priority roads. Snow removal got underway just after 7:00 am and will continue throughout the storm.

Delays have been reported by the city for emergency response times due to conditions. Additional ambulance crews are on shift to help address the delays.

Winnipeg Transit and Garbage pickup crews are also experiencing delays.
