Weapons and drug charges laid in Sandy Bay First Nation incident

Manitoba First Nations Police (MFNPS) have a 25-year-old male in custody after he was allegedly seen walking around Sandy Bay First Nation with a firearm.

Police say that around 2:00 am Sunday morning they received several calls from concerned citizens that a man was walking around the town-site with the weapon.

Although a patrol of the area did not turn up suspect officers continued the investigation and identified a residence where the suspect was thought to be.

MFNPS along with RCMP went to the home and arrested the male without incident.

Police located a bag in the home which contained a prohibited firearm as well as Meth, ammunition, a scale, baggies, knife and drug paraphernalia.

Michael Robert McIvor from Sandy Bay First Nation has been charged for his alleged involvement with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon with Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm contrary to an Order, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Fail to Comply with Probation and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.
