Man charged for threatening multiple people with a firearm

Winnipeg Police have arrested a 23-year-old male after he was involved in several incidents involving firearms over the past month.

Police say that received a report from a cab driver on January 30, 2019, that he had dropped off two men in the 500 block of Magnus Avenue just before 1:00 am and both men pulled out firearms and pointed it at him. One of the men had a rifle the other a handgun. The driver drove away as the men made racial comments and continued to point the weapons in his direction.

The male with the rifle also went into a home in the 500 block of Magnus at some point during the month and ordered five adults to their knees as he pointed the rifle at their heads. The suspect then fled without incident.

On February 27 the man returned to the Magnus residence again armed with a rifle. Police were called and as two men and a woman exited the home they were taken into custody. Shortly afterwards another female exited the home accompanied by a male who lifted up his jacket and showed police a firearm tucked into the waistband of his pants. Officers ordered him not to touch the weapon but he ignored them while laughing. He pulled out the weapon and threw it into the snow.

Police recover the rifle from the snow and saw it was loaded.

Darnell Tyrin Anase Rae, 23, from Winnipeg is facing a number of weapons-related charges for his alleged involvement.

He has been detained.
