A Winnipeg man is facing a number of weapons-related charges after he strapped a pipe to a piece of wood then brandished it like a shotgun.
Police say that just after the dinner hour, around 6:30 pm, they were alerted to an incident of a male possibly armed with a gun around William Avenue and Isabel Street.
When officers found outside the Tim Horton’s on Isabel Street the suspect he appeared to have a shotgun barrel under his jacket.

Officers ordered him to drop the weapon several times and warned him he would be shot if he failed to comply. After several minutes an officer shot the suspect with a taser. The man dropped to the ground and was quickly taken into custody.
The encounter with police was caught on video by Monica Modonick and posted to social media shortly after the incident.

As the investigation unfolded police learned that the suspect had gone into a business in the 100 block of Isabel Street and pointed the “firearm” at an employee after causing a commotion. He then went into a second business in the same block and this time threatened to “fire” the weapon at an employee there. The employee ran to the back of the business and the suspect left.
42-year-old Martin Eric Sinclair from Winnipeg has been charged for his alleged involvement with Cause Disturbance,
Possess Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon, prohibited Device or Ammunition and Fail to Comply with Probation
He was detained in custody.
