“Zip gun” found after foot chase by police

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged 19-year-old Thunder Lightning Fontaine after spotting the male in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Police say officers recognized Fontaine as a person wanted on an active arrest warrant. When they approached him he took off on foot and began running between houses.

Fontaine was eventually captured in a rear yard.

A search of the suspect uncovered a loaded homemade “zip gun”, a knife and parts for two additional improvised firing devices along with ammunition.

Fontaine is facing 35 separate firearms-related criminal code offences and breaches of court orders for his alleged involvement

He was detained in custody.
