Four men facing weapons charges after traffic stop

Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged four adult males with weapons charges after making a traffic stop on an SUV due to an obstructed licence plate.

According to police they made the stop around 12:40 am on Wednesday May 15, 2019 near Watt Street and Talbot Avenue.

As officers approached the vehicle they saw a hatchet inside the vehicle. The four men inside were place under arrest and the vehicle was searched.

During the search police uncovered a number of other items including:

  • A knife and sheath
  • Brass knuckles
  • Two large machetes
  • An operational “stun gun”
  • A loaded sawed-off 12 gauge shotgun
  • Numerous rounds of ammunition (various types including .22 calibre and 12 gauge rounds)
  • Three masks

All four suspects were detained in custody.
