A 22-year-old male is in custody after he was found with a number of weapons and wearing a ballistic vest.
Police say that on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, just beroe 2:00 am they noticed a rental car around Prichard Avenue and Parr Street. As police approached the vehicle it came to a stop in the 700 block of Prichard and all four people inside jumped out and ran away.
Police located one of the suspects nearby and he was arrested.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a sawed-off 12-gauge pump-action shotgun and a sawed-off .243 calibre pump-action rifle.
Police identified the rifle as one that had been reported stolen from a Waverley Heights home in September 2017.
The vest the suspect was wearing was missing the body armour Kevlar panels.
Officers have charged 22-year-old Eric Matthew Moar from Winnipeg with the following for his alleged involvement
- Possession of a Weapon (x2)
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (x2)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm (x2)
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x2)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
Moar remains in custody.
