Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Tactical Support Team noticed a stolen vehicle around Main Street and Sutherland Avenue late Wednesday morning, December 26, 2018. The conducted a traffic stop and found three people inside the vehicle.

All three were placed under arrest.

Police say the vehicle had been stolen from Toronto Street earlier in the day and a search of it located three improvised firing devices and a can of pepper spray.

Justin Karl Melquist,26, Ileana Elizabeth Jewell Baptiste, 21 and Charles Corey Chamakese,20 were arrested and charged with multiple property and weapons offences for their alleged involvement. Baptiste was also wanted on two outstanding warrants for Failing to appear and Possess Property Obtained by Crime.

All three accused are from Winnipeg and were detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
