Winnipeg police have arrested and charged a 43-year-old male after he walked into the police HQ entryway and told security that he had a firearm.
The man had been spotted pacing in front of the building prior to coming in and appeared to be agitated.
Officers evacuated the station duty area while other officers confronted the man. Police say the male then threw a handgun to the ground before being taken into custody.
The male was wearing body armour and had a tactical knife in his possession. The handgun turned out to be a BB gun replica of a Beretta model 92 handgun.
The male was taken to hospital to be medically assessed.
He has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Possession of a Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Possess body Armour without a valid permit or in a manner inconsistent with the valid permit.
