City projects saving $35 million on Waverley Street underpass construction.

The project has barely started but city officials are saying that the Waverley Street underpass project is close to $35 million under budget, That’s right you read that correctly almost $35 million under budget!

The city says that the savings were able to be projected because they were able to get “favourable pricing” from project contractors. Public works say that in addition to bid prices completion of the detours needed to complete the project were on time as were the relocations of utilities.

The new estimated price is $121.4 million with a project completion of July 2020.
