Warnings and watches have been issued for most of southern Manitoba including the city of Winnipeg for the possible development of dangerous thunderstorms.
According to Environment Canada conditions are favourable for these storms and they are capable of producing damaging winds, large hail and heavy rain.
The severe weather will continue to move east this evening. Just after 6:15 pm Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for areas east of Winnipeg and expanded it’s warnings in western Manitoba.
As the cold front to the west of the city collides with unstable airmass over southern Manitoba some of the storms will quickly become severe
Intense lightning is likely as the storms develop and large hail can cause injury and damage property. If thunderstorms develop take cover immediately.
