Police confirm the drug carfentanil is now on the streets of Winnipeg.
As News4 told you on September 12, 2016 police found close to 1500 tabs of carfentanil after they raided a west-end hotel.

A 37 year old man was arrested and charged with multiple drug related offences.

Carfentanil is a drug that is used to immobilize large mammals like elephants or Polar Bears. Even as little a one grain of carfentanil can be toxic to humans.
Although Police say they are not aware of any deaths in Winnipeg related to the drug they are warning users to avoid taking it.

Carfentanil is 10,000 times more potent than morphine, making it one of the most potent known and the most potent commercially used opioids.
