A gas leak that forced the evacuation of a senior’s residence was caused by a contractor damaging a gas line according to officials.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service were called to the 600 block of Warde Avenue around 9:34 Friday morning, October 9, 2020.
When emergency crews arrived on the scene they determined that the gas was leaking into the sewer system and the nearby senior’s residence.
Firefighters evacuated the senior’s residence and brought in buses to provide shelter for those that were evacuated.
Manitoba Hydro deployed to the scene and repaired the leak.
The residents returned to the building, no injuries were reported.
