Winnipeg Police have a 17-year-old wanted male in custody after officers spotted him near Selkirk Avenue and Andrews Street early New Year’s Day.
Police say that as soon as the teen spotted them he took off on foot and attempted to hide in a Flora Avenue yard.
The male was taken into custody and a search of him found a zip gun, parts that could be used to make an improvised firing device and ammunition.
The teen was processed on his outstanding warrants for Assault with a Weapon and four counts of Fail to Comply Sentence.
He is also facing charges for his alleged involvement with Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x6), Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition.
The accused was detained in custody.
