One dead after fight in Virden home

RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating a fight that turned deadly in Virden early Tuesday morning. Virden is about 290 kilometres west of Winnipeg.

Police say that around 12:30 am January 15, 2019, they were called to a Queen Street West home for a stabbing.

When officers arrived they found that two men, aged 22 and 27 were involved in a fight with each other. Both males were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

22-year-old Bradley Kenneth Tomms from Virden was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Uttering Threats.

The other male from Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation died from his injuries.

Tomms is now facing charges of Second Degree Murder.

The investigation continues.
