Violent Altercation on Marion Street Leaves Woman Injured; Multiple People Bear Sprayed

A violent early morning altercation in the 300 block of Marion Street has left one woman hospitalized and several others suffering from the effects of bear spray.

Officers from the East District General Patrol responded to reports of a fight and the discharge of bear spray at approximately 2:26 a.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

According to police, the fight involved multiple individuals and resulted in the use of bear spray against several people. A 31-year-old woman sustained upper body injuries after being assaulted with a weapon. She was transported to hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable. Five other adult victims were treated at the scene for the effects of bear spray and subsequently released.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been made at this time.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit continues investigating the incident. They are urging anyone with information about the altercation to contact investigators at 204-986-6219.
