RCMP announced Monday July 20, 2020 that they have identified the victim of a Portage la Prairie homicide investigation.

On June 24, 2020 police were called to Baker Street in Portage after human remains were found. After asking for help from the public on two occasions, on July 10 and again on July 15, investigators were able to identify the victim as a direct result.

RCMP say the victim is 27-year-old Gerhard Reimer-Wiebe from Steinbach who was living in Winnipeg.

Investigators are hoping by releasing the victim’s name and images that someone who recognizes him can help their investigation by providing information on hi activities between May 15 and June 20, 2020.

Police say that Gerhard was known to frequent homeless shelters within the City of Winnipeg.
