Victim attacked with a hatched during afternoon robbery

Two adult males are in custody in connection to an afternoon assault onWednesday, September 29, 2021.

According to Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded to a report of a male being assaulted with a weapon in the 500 block of Sherbrook Street just after 2:30 pm.

When police arrived they found a male in his 20s suffering injuries. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable

Officers took two suspects into custody after a foot pursuit that ended in the 500 block of Maryland Street.

Investigators believe that the victim had been attacked with a hatchet-type weapon during the course of a robbery. A stolen bicycle was recovered.

When searching the suspects after their arrest police found a set of brass knuckles on one of them

Bradley Kenneth Jones, 32, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery, Aggravated Assault, three counts of Possession of Prohibited Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order and two counts of Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.

Larry Dumas, 25, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order.

Both Dumas and Jones were detained in custody.
