VIA Rail passenger train derailed near Gladstone

RCMP say that a VIA Rail passenger train derailed around 6:45 am on December 31, 2019.

Police say that seven passengers and five crew were on the train when the engine left the tracks and rolled onto its side about 27 kilometres southeast of Gladstone, Manitoba.

Injuries to the passengers and crew do not appear to be serious.

The Transport Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has sent an investigator to the scene and will gather information and assess the occurrence according to the TSB website.

It is not known yet what cause the derailment.
