On February 1, 2025, police responded to a violent incident as two men in their 60s became embroiled in a violent altercation that resulted in a stabbing.
The incident happened around 7:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Hargrave Street. Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) officers arrived at the scene while the event was still unfolding and immediately deployed a conducted energy weapon (Taser) to subdue the individuals involved.
One of the men, a 68-year-old, sustained serious injuries in the incident and was rushed to a nearby hospital in unstable condition but his condition has improved to stable. The second individual, a 62-year-old, was also transported to the hospital for a minor injury and has since been treated and processed by police.
Investigations revealed that both men were acquaintances who had been drinking at a local bar before the incident. As tensions rose, the establishment’s staff intervened and escorted them outside, where a verbal dispute escalated into physical violence, leading to the stabbing.
The 62-year-old suspect is now facing serious charges, including Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon. Following processing, he was released on an Undertaking.
