Vehicle collides with traffic light, one taken to hospital

It appears that a driver lost control early Saturday morning on Notre Dame Avenue at Arlington Street crashing into a traffic light pole, knocking it to the ground and coming to rest against a vehicle travelling eastbound.

Winnipeg Fire Paramedics Service responded to the call at 12:00 am on October 30, 2021. One person was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.

Winnipeg Police Service Cadets blocked the inside lane in both directions until the vehicle and traffic light could be removed from the roadway.

Traffic lights in all directions were flashing red which indicates that the intersection should be treated as a four-way stop. Multiple vehicles were seen ignoring the traffic device and continuing through the intersection when it wasn’t safe to do so.
