Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire in Point Douglas on Saturday, November 23, 2019.
It happened just after 1:30 am on Dewdney Avenue.
When firefighters arrived on scene they could see smoke billowing from the roof of the two-storey structure.
An offensive attack was launched.
One firefighter had a close call when he was pulling plywood off one of the windows. As the plywood pops off the firefighter leans back and nearly falls from the ladder.
Neighbours tell News 4 that squatters have been living in the building for several months prior to the fire.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
