UPDATED

Winnipeg Fire crews were called to a fire in a boarded up house just after midnight Saturday April 6, 2019.

Heavy smoke was billowing out of the building as firefighters arrived at the one and a half storey building on Elgin Avenue near Isabel Street.

An interior attack was initiated and the fire was brought under control around 1:30 am

One firefighter suffered minor injuries but was treated on scene by paramedics and did not need to go to hospital.

There are no other reports of injuries. The building suffered extensive damage from smoke and water.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
