Vacant house a complete loss after early morning fire

An early morning fire in a vacant two-storey College Avenue house resulted in a complete loss and is under investigation.

Emergency crews responded to a fire call at 5:15 am on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. When firefighters arrived on the scene the house was fully involved. The fire had extended to a neighbouring home. Crews launched a defensive attack was launched.

Residents in the neighbouring home that the fire had extended to were able to self evacuate with their pets. The neighbouring home on the other side of the fire was evacuated by firefighters. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials say that the home where the fire started is a complete loss and will be demolished due to concerns about its structural integrity.
