As News4 has been reporting – On June 23, 2016 at approximately 3:00 am, emergency personnel responded to reports of an injured man inside a suite located in the 400 block of Furby Street.
James Edsel Tucker, 45 years old was found stabbed in the upper body and transported to hospital in critical condition where he died to his injuries. Tucker had changed his name he was formally known as William James Harcus. In the 1990s Harcus had been the head of the local chapter of the Manitoba KKK. Police say that his death is not connected to role in the KKK.
Winnipeg Police have arrested Martin Archie Flett, 22 years old. Police have also arrested and charged Joshua Evans, 24 years old. The pair have been charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Robbery with Firearm x 2, Kidnapping with Firearm, Sexual Assault, Assault with a Weapon and other weapon related offences due to their alleged involvement.
The investigation revealed that the pair went to an apartment in the 400 block of Furby Street to purchase drugs when they first encountered a 37 year old male resident. The suspects were armed and for a period of time, the 37 year old victim was seriously assaulted.
Sometime later, the victim was forced into his suite when the suspects encountered victim James TUCKER. A confrontation erupted resulting in TUCKER being stabbed.
Members of the Homicide Unit continue to investigate.
