Manitoba’s police watchdog agency the Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) is investigating the unsafe storage of a firearm by an off-duty RCMP officer.
The IIU says they learned of the May 7, 2021, incident from RCMP three days later.
There were no injuries or other incidents related to the storage of the weapon but IIU civilian director Zane Tessler considers the incident in the public interest to investigate.
