Winnipeg Police are asking the public for help in identifying a man who brutally attacked and robbed a 17-year-old university student from India while he was waiting for a bus.
The unprovoked attack happened around 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 23, 2018. According to police the victim was attacked in the bus shelter outside Portage Place. The victim suffered serious injuries to his face and head. He was taken to the hospital, treated and released.
The victim will be requiring follow up medical attention for his injuries.
According to investigators the victim and the suspect did not know each other. The victim has only been in Winnipeg for just over a month.

“We need to get this person identified as soon as possible and have them removed from the streets,” said Winnipeg Police Public Information Officer Tammy Skrabek. She said she believes that the attacker is “more dangerous than anybody else out there.”
Winnipeg police released part of the security video of the assault that shows the suspect waiting until he was alone with the victim and no one was in front of the shelter.

Police also released images of the suspect and are asking for help in identifying him a quickly as possible.
