Three people sent to hospital after police-involved collision

Winnipeg Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision on Main Street on Thursday evening, October 28, 2021, that involved a Winnipeg Police Service unmarked police unit.

The collision happened just after 7:00 pm near College Avenue. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage. An adult female in her 20s from the civilian vehicle was transported to the hospital in stable condition with fractured vertebrae where she currently remains. Two officers in the police vehicle were also transported to hospital in stable condition, were treated and released. One of the officers has a suspected broken arm.

Police had Main Street closed in both directions around the crash site as they investigated the incident.

The Independent Investigation Unit has been notified and will be taking over the responsibility of the investigation as the injuries sustained by the female and one of the officers are considered serious.
