The University of Manitoba says that it may apply for a reconsideration of a decision by the Manitoba Labour Relations Board that found the university guilty of an unfair labour practice.
“The University is disappointed with the Labour Board’s finding that it committed an unfair labour practice with regard to the timing of sharing information with the UMFA bargaining team about government salary directives,” said a statement from the university.
The board in its findings ordered the university to pay the faculty association up to $2,000 and each member of the association up to $2,000 for interfering with their rights under the Manitoba Labour Relations Act.

The faculty association filed a complaint during a labour dispute in November of 2016 that said the university did not disclose that they had been ordered by the Tory government to freeze faculty salaries.
The faculty association and the university ultimately settled the labour dispute last year and ratified a four-year contract.
