Unattended cooking to blame for Kennedy Street fire

On Monday, August 3, 2020, Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a fire in a three-storey apartment building on Kennedy Street.

When crews arrived just after 9:17 am they encountered smoke coming from the building. The fire was declared under control by 9:45 am after an offensive attack was launched.

One person was assessed by paramedics on scene but did not require trip to the hospital.

Fire officials say that most of the damage was contained to one suite and appears to be the result of unattended cooking.
