Uber announced on Monday, June 8, 2020, that they have received their license to operate in the City of Winnipeg.
The ridesharing service says that they already have tens of thousands of Winnipeggers signed up to use the service and expect to start operating within a few weeks.
According to Uber the only thing they need to do is get enough qualified drivers before launching in the city.
Uber launched a campaign to encourage Winnipeggers with safe driving records to sign up to be a driver. A special one-time promotion of $500 is being offered to the first 100 drivers to complete 20 trips following the launch in Winnipeg.
Those interested in driving for the service can sign up at uber.com/drive.
