On Wednesday, May 13, 2020, Uber applied for a dispatch license with the City of Winnipeg. This is the first step in the process that will allow the company to operate in the city.
In a written statement the ride-sharing service says that it hopes to launch later this year once it gets city approval and enough qualified drivers.
The company is actively recruiting drivers in Winnipeg with safe driving records and invites those who are interested to start the sign-up process by going to drive.uber.com
