Two women are in hospital after being shot early Monday morning, February 28, 2022.

Police say that the women were standing in front of an apartment in the 500 block of Elgin Avenue while waiting for the door to open.

Responding officers saw that the windows of the building entryway were shot out and a blood trail led to suite within the building. Police followed the trail and located the two victims. One of the women had been shot in the upper body and was taken to hospital in critical condition. The other female was transported to hospital in unstable condition. Both victims are now in stable condition.

Police say that the suspect appeared to be male but was not known to the victims. He was last seen fleeing westbound.
