Two unrelated stabbings Wednesday under investigation

Winnipeg Police Service are investigating two unrelated stabbings on Wednesday night that happened just over an hour apart.

Officers responded to a serious assault around 9:45 pm near Spence Street and Ellice Avenue.

Police say they were told that a group of males were kicking a male in the head before fleeing on foot.

When officers arrived they found an adult male victim suffering from stab wounds and upper-body injuries. Police administered emergency first aid while awaiting paramedics. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition but soon upgraded to stable.

Two suspects were found by police and taken into custody.

24-year-old Aaron David Woodhouse and 30-year-old Troy William Masters were both charged with Aggravated Assault for their alleged involvement. Masters was also charged with Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Poss is Unauthorized and Failing to Comply with Release Order.

Both suspects were detained in custody

Main Street

Minutes after 11:00 pm a male in his 40s was stabbed and robbed outside a vendor in the 800 block of Main Street.

Police found the victim laying inside the adjoining bar. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The victim told police that as he was going to the vendor more than one suspect approached him and demanded his baseball cap. He was sprayed with bear mace in the face and then stabbed in the upper body. The suspects then stole his cap and fled.
