The tornado that touched down in western Manitoba, Manitoba on Friday evening, August 7, 2020, claimed the lives of two teens.
Just after 8:00 pm a funnel cloud touched down near Highway 38 and Road 50N in the RM of Pipestone about 16 kilometres south of Virden.
The tornado tracked through a farm property causing extensive damage. Two vehicles were sucked into the vortex and tossed into a nearby field. One of the vehicles was thrown more than a kilometre away.

A 54-year-old Sioux Valley Dakota First Nation man was found in the closest vehicle with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
No one was inside the second vehicle so emergency crews performed a ground search and located to people who had been ejected from the vehicle. An 18-year-old male and an 18-year-old female, both from Melita were found dead.
Emergency crews continued to search the area for other possible victims but none were located.
Manitoba Hydro said Saturday that the tornado did not hit any critical transmission lines but a number of wooden poles need to be replaced in order to fully restore power to customers in the area.
