RCMP in southern Manitoba spent much of the day on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, searching for two suspects wanted on warrants.
The manhunt began in Portage la Prairie and spread east across the province to an area south of Niverville and east of Ste. Agathe.
More than 20 patrol units from five detachments stationed themselves at strategic points along Highway 75 and Highway 200.
At one point a News 4 photographer was stopped by police saying he resembled one of the suspects they were looking for.
Just after 7:00 pm police appeared to be focused on an area east of Highway 200
One of the suspects was captured just before 8:00 pm just off Road 34N about two kilometres east of Highway 200.
Paramedics treated him on scene for an apparent injury to his leg.
The suspect was then placed in an RCMP pickup. Officers could be heard questioning the male about the location of the “stolen vehicle and gun”
About 35 minutes after the suspect was driven away police located the stolen vehicle within a few kilometres.
Officers involved in the manhunt told news 4 that both suspects are in custody
