Two Suspects Arrested in Connection with Corydon Avenue Shooting

On October 5, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a firearm discharge in the 700 block of Corydon Avenue. West District General Patrol officers, assisted by the Tactical Support Team (TST), discovered that two adult male suspects had fired handguns at individuals outside and fled before police arrived.

Shortly thereafter, officers learned that a 44-year-old male victim had been admitted to the hospital with upper-body injuries from the shooting. He was stabilized and treated for his injuries. The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and identified the two suspects.

The investigation revealed that the suspects and a third adult male were involved in a physical altercation, which the victim witnessed. As the victim intervened to help the third male, both suspects produced firearms and shot at the victim, hitting him in the upper body. A vehicle was also struck during the incident. The victim was transported to the hospital, and police were notified.

Investigators also linked one of the suspects to a separate incident where a firearm was discharged in the 100 block of Smith Street on March 17, 2024. No injuries were reported in that incident.

On November 1, with the assistance of the TST and West District Community Support Unit officers, Major Crimes investigators executed search warrants at linked residences on Code Street and Monarch Mews, arresting both suspects without incident. The search resulted in the seizure of approximately 18 grams of cocaine (estimated street value $1,800), packaging materials, a counterfeit currency note, a counterfeit identification document, and approximately $5,000 in Canadian funds.
