Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is investigating the cause of two separate fires on Sunday evening, June 20, 2021.
Panet Road
Firefighters were called to a commercial building on Panet Road just before 8:00 pm.
When they arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the business. An offensive attack was launched. The fire was declared under control at 8:15 pm.
Firefighters used a drone during the incident to detect hot spots and provide aerial views.
A search of the building did not find anyone inside. No injuries were reported.
William Newton Avenue
At 9:08 emergency crews responded to reports of a fire in a multi-family residence in the 400 block of William Newton Avenue.
Smoke was coming from the building as crews arrived and an offensive attack was launched.
The fire was declared under control at 9:26 pm.
Fire officials say that everyone inside the residence were able to safely get out before firefighters arrived. Six people were assessed by paramedics on scene but not required hospitalization. No other injuries were reported.
Crews also found a pet lizard inside the building and it has been reunited with its owner.
