Two Stabbed in Winnipeg, Suspect Arrested

On March 5, 2025, a series of violent incidents unfolded in Winnipeg, leaving two individuals injured and a suspect in custody.

At approximately 12:40 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 800 block of Main Street. Upon arrival, officers found a 37-year-old male suffering from a serious upper-body injury. The victim, who was transported to the hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable, had been attacked following an unprovoked verbal confrontation with the suspect. The two were previously unknown to each other. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.

Later, at around 2:15 p.m., the suspect struck again near Main Street and Pioneer Avenue. This time, a 61-year-old male was approached by the suspect, who requested a cigarette. Without warning, the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the man in the upper body before fleeing on foot. The victim was located by Central District General Patrol officers and Downtown Foot Patrol, who summoned paramedics. He was also transported to the hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

The suspect was apprehended at approximately 3:05 p.m. in the 300 block of Portage Avenue. Police arrested the 23-year-old Winnipeg male without incident. He now faces two counts of Assault with a Weapon and one count of Possession of a Weapon for his alleged involvement. He remains in custody.
