Just before 1:00 pm Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a fire in a four-storey apartment building on Prevette Street in Elmwood.
When crews arrived they saw smoke coming from a fourth floor window.
The fire was knocked down quickly limiting damage to only the one suite where the fire had started.
The two people who were in the suite were able to get out before firefighters arrived but had suffered injuries. The pair were assessed by paramedics then taken to hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
