Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged two men in connection to two purse-snatching incidents in late January and early February 2020.
On January 29th a purse was stolen out of a shopping cart at a Dakota Street grocery. A credit card from the purse was used to purchase food from an Ellice Avenue restaurant and a cheque that was in the purse was fraudulently deposited at a bank on Notre Dame Ave.
Three Days later on February 1st another purse was stolen from a shopping cart. This time it happened at a store on Regent Avenue West. A credit card from the purse was used at a Selkirk Avenue business.
Police say that through the investigation they were able to identify a suspect and on February 12, 2020, took a 44-year-old male into custody.
He was charged for his alleged involvement with Theft Under $5,000, two counts of Use of Credit Card and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
Police say that they also arrested a 64-year-old male and charged him for his alleged involvement with Fraud Under $5,000 and Use of Forged Document.
Both men have been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
