Two Portage la Prairie women busted for drug trafficking

Manitoba First Nations Police Service has arrested and charged two Portage la Prairie women for drug trafficking after a traffic stop in Sandy Bay First Nation.

On Saturday July 11, 2020, just after 1:00 am, officers made what they thought was a routine traffic stop. Police say the vehicle was driving in a suspicious manner at the time they pulled it over.

When officers approached the vehicle they noticed drug paraphernalia inside. The two occupants were ordered out of the vehicle and a search was conducted.

Multiple bags of what police believe was Crystal Meth was seized from the two female occupants in the vehicle. Officers also found about 5.85 grams of Meth, 11 Oxycodone pills and $820 in cash.

A 39-year-old female and a 29-year-old female were arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

Both suspects were released on a promise to appear with court ordered conditions.
