Two people from Mexico face charges in Winnipeg for drug trafficking

Winnipeg Police Service arrested and charged a male and a female from Mexico on October 19, 2023, with drug trafficking-related offences.

According to investigators a search warrant was executed in the 100 block of James Avenue on the same day and more than $1.3 million worth of illegal drugs, a handgun and counterfeit money was seized.

  • Approximately 9 Kilograms of Methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value: $450,000)
  • Approximately 2.1 Kilograms of Fentanyl (Estimated Street Value: $850,000)
  • A large quantity of prescription pills
  • A loaded Glock handgun and ammunition
  • Approximately $50,000 CDN currency
  • $450,000 Counterfeit CDN currency
  • Packaging Materials

27-year-olds Ilse Brillette VAZQUEZ ARROYO and Juan Abad CASIMIRO PEREZ have been charged for their alleged involvement with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – METHAMPHETAMINE
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – FENTANYL
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession of Counterfeit Money
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition

Both of the accused were detained in custody.
