A 25-year-old female is facing an assault with a weapon charge after she allegedly used bear spray on a female and then sprayed a male as he approached to intervene early Saturday morning, July 29, 2023.
According to Winnipeg Police Service a male athlete in his 50s who was in town for the World Police and Fire Games witnessed an altercation between two females in the first 100 block of Goulet Street and tried to intervene. One of the females used bear spray on the other female then on the male. The suspect fled on foot and the female victim left the scene before she was helped or identified.
Officers searched the area and quickly found the suspect walking in the 100 block of Marion Street. She was arrested, charged then released on an Undertaking.
The male victim was treated by Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service at the scene.
