RCMP say that they have arrested a man and a woman in their 30s in connection to multiple thefts from properties north of Winnipeg.
Police say that on September 18, 2023, officers began receiving reports of two suspects who had tried to break into a Lockport business but were scared off by people in the area. Soon afterwards police learned of a damaged stolen truck on River Road in the RM of West St. Paul. The truck had been stolen from a nearby property and had been backed into a garage door so the suspects could gain entry. A side by side also been stolen from the property.
Police then received a report that a man driving a side by side had stopped at a property and began going through a vehicle. The 65-year-old homeowner confronted the suspect and was injured when he was hit by the side by side as the suspect fled. The homeowner suffered minor injuries.
The sis by side was found abandoned on Highway 9. Officers received a report that there were two suspicious people in the area. A female suspect was located along with a stolen vehicle. She was arrested. RCMP contained the area and soon found the male suspect riding a stolen bicycle. He was arrested.
The suspects are facing multiple charges for theft, breaking and entering, possession of property obtained by crime along with several other offences.
