Two police officers assaulted during arrest of assault suspect

A 39-year-old male is facing a number of charges after he assaulted two police officers late New Year’s eve.

Police say that they had responded to a family-related incident on Dzyndra Crescent. The suspect allegedly assaulted a woman in her 50s and then threatened to kill her before fleeing the home.

Officers located the suspect near Rougeau Avenue and Bournais Drive. As they attempted to take the man into custody he resisted and began fighting with officers. The male was soon in custody but not before both officers sustained injuries. One of the officers required medical treatment in hospital.

Alen Mikic Has been charged for his alleged involvement with two counts of Assault a Peace Officer, Assault, Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Mischief Under $5,000 / Ojstruct Enjoyment and Resist Peace Officer

Mikic was detained in custody.
