Two more lives claimed by COVID-19 in Manitoba, 20 new cases on Thursday

Manitoba Public Health announced two more people have died from COVID-19. There were 20 new cases of the virus on Thursday, September 3, 2020. The total number of lab-confirmed cases stands at 1,264.

The reported deaths are both related to an outbreak at Bethesda Place in Steinbach. Both cases were previously reported and are a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 90s. Bethesda Place has now had four deaths since the outbreak began in the facility.

Six of the new cases are in the Prairie Mountain Health region, one new case in the Interlake-Eastern Health region, and 13 cases in the Winnipeg Health region.

Half the cases in Winnipeg today are linked to a known case

There are 12 people being treated in hospital including one person in intensive care.

There are currently 457 active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 791 people listed as recovered.

The number of deaths related to COVID-19 is 16.

1,339 laboratory tests were completed on Wednesday. According to Manitoba Public Health, the total number of completed tests since early February is 140,982.

A potential exposure to the public may have occurred in Brandon between August 19 and 21 at ABC Taxi Cabs and Limousine Service at 144 12th Street in Brandon.

The travel restriction to northern Manitoba has been re-implemented effective on Friday, September 4, 2020.

One person with a confirmed case of COVID-19 was fined according to public health after they did not comply with the self-isolation requirement.
